Close your eyes and take a trip with me.... You and your best friends decide to have some fun in the sun and take a girls trip. You're on the beach laughing together, taking selfies, and sipping on exotic rum from a fresh coconut. You can feel the breeze blow through your hair as you run to the ocean too feel the luke warm waves crash into your thighs. Imagine laying out on the pure white sands on the Gulf of Mexico as sunlight beams down on your body. Now its time to make this dream become reality and let me take you there.
YOU SHOULD TRAVEL.......YOU DESERVE IT!!
Vacations are an awesome way to enjoy time with friends or family, make memories, relieve stress, and even just to escape the everyday life and enjoy something new and refreshing. There are many reasons people choose to vacation, just know that you DESERVE it! Many of us work a regular 9 to 5 job and it can become very repetitious and sometimes you just need a break! I know this feeling all to well, I was use to a very routine schedule. I would always admire the fun, exotic, luxury vacations I would see on the commercial, while saying, " I wish that was me" Once the commercial ceased my dream was over. I use to think to myself, if I haven't traveled in all of these years, why start now and plus I can't afford it. Five years ago I had a great friend pull me out of my shell and said to me," you need to start traveling!" She put me on my first flight to Panama, FL. At first it took me out of my comfort zone, but I overcame
my fear and gained myconfidence. Shortly after Panama I was on my first international trip to Jamaica. Needless to say, I've kept this trend going. I made it my goal to travel out of the country at least twice a year! Traveling brings me so much excitement and fulfillment. I get so much joy when I visit other countries and participate in excursions such as: cliff diving, horseback ridding on the beach, swimming with dolphins, ridding ATVs, snorkeling and so much more. I knew that this new found love for traveling was something that I would never give up. My adventures brought me so much happiness I told almost everyone I came in contact with. I even shared pictures on all of my social media platforms. I loved traveling so much I decided to go to the next step and become a certified travel agent, I'm now a certified travel agent for Step Travel.
PLAN FOR IT....BUDGET FOR IT......ENJOY IT
Now....... With that being said, some of my clients still have their reservations about traveling. The most common objection I get is, " I would love to travel but I can't afford it." I must tell you, again I know this feeling all to well. I know that not having the finances at that moment is a reason people decline to travel. I experienced this myself, being a single person having to budget for my mortgage along with my others bills while also trying to save funds to get my hair company started. I was feeling like there is no way I could afford this. Guess what, I could afford it, not only could I afford it I deserved it! Im going to share some helpful tips on how I made it happen.
1. Plan in Advance-I always plan my vacations in advance. I never just, pop up and go. Most of my vacations I typically plan 8 to 9 months in advance Planning my trips in advance allows me to budget for them in a timely manner.
2. Think Small-Let's break this down. If I plan a vacation and the total is 650.00, I break the 650.00 down into smaller payments.
The Payment Plan-I take 650.00(total of trip) divided by 8 ( the months I have to have balance paid off)= 81.25 (per month). Well, too me 81.25 is still a little close to 100.00 a month so I think even smaller!
**I then take 81.25( the amount I need to pay per month on my trip) divided by 2( the amount of times I get paid per month)=40.63( is what I would pay every time I got paid in order to pay off my trip within 8 months).
I am able to handle 40.63 a pay period. I include this in my budget I write down every 2 weeks and title it "Trip Bill" so I will not forget to pay it. Granted, you may have to sacrifice a brunch or happy hour to make this payment but it will be well worth it!
Now that we have the trip in order and paying on that, my clients then say, " I don't have any clothes to wear on this vacation" Most people want to look extra nice when they travel, so I know shopping for clothes can get quite expensive. In step 3 I will show you how to get vacation ready without breaking the bank.
3. Shop Online and Out of Season-Let me drop this jewel in case you didn't know. Ladies, shopping out of season will get you some of the best deals! Most stores have definitely cleared all of their summer clothes by now but they are still available online. I am currently shopping for the"Girl's Trip Cruise 2018". I have been able to find some great deals online at Fashionova, Windsor, Urban Original and many more! Don’t forget, go straight for the sales tab!
