Most of my lash gurus tend to use the word ‘lashes” very loosely and someone that does not wear lashes or is new to the lash world may find it difficult to understand if someone is referring to individual lash extensions or strip lashes. I have personally had several clients tell me they never knew of the different ways lashes could be applied because the words “lashes” and “ eyelashes” are used so interchangeably these days. I have certainly had my share of introducing women into the lash world and I absolutely love their reaction after trying lashes for the first time. Let’s just say that wearing lashes can become easily addictive.
WHAT’S TRENDING NOW?
With today’s millenniums there are two types of lashes that are trending, lash extensions and strip lashes. Strip lashes are often referred too as “ falsies”’ A few years ago individual lashes also known as “cluster” lashes use to be very common before lash extensions and strip lashes came in and dominated. I want all of my ladies to be lash educated and find out what type of lash options suits you best. Let me share with you the difference between individual lash extensions and strip lashes and share some pros and cons of both.
STRIP LASHES "FALSIES"
Lash strips are the most common type of false lashes used. Strip lashes are created by taking individual lashes and having them glued to a band then the band is what is attached to your natural lashes when being applied. Strip lashes are also referred too as "falsies.” Falsies can look very natural depending on the type of falsies you choose. Most strip lashes are either, synthetic, silk or mink. Professional make up artist use falsies when applying make up for their clients and they are sold widely at different beauty counters such as: Mac, Ulta Beauty, Sephora, CVS, or local hair stores, although these stores usually carry silk, synthetic, or human hair lashes. Mink lashes are normally found online. Mink lashes are
amongst the most popular. Mink lashes are popular because of their durability and the wide selection of styles to choose from.Luxe Luxury Hair Extensions and Lashes sells 12 pair of 3D mink Zodiac Lashes. Lash extensions are tiny hair fibers, which can either be silk or mink and is applied to your natural lashes one by one using a surgical type glue. Lash extensions should be applied at a salon by a licensed aesthetician or cosmetologist. There are several women that have participated in training classes in order to get a “ certification" in applying lash extensions, but do not have an actual license issued by their state, so be careful. Once you have your full set of lash extensions you must get a fill in every two weeks in order to maintain their appearance.
Your natural lashes has a shed cycle and will shed 4 to 5 lashes a week, as your natural lashes shed the lash extension falls off with it and will cause your lash extensions to look sparse if you fail to maintenance them every 2 weeks. Most lash technicians will charge you the same as a full set if you wait 3 to 4 weeks to come get your fill in versus coming every 2 weeks.
